Swim format - 500 yard swim
7:00 AM START
Individuals first, then Teams. Start time is 7:00AM sharp starting with bib #1. We are using a staggered start this year to speed things up. When a lane opens up, next competitor in the water. NO DIVING! You will be disqualified if you dive in. Feet first only. Stay behind the mat, otherwise it sets off the chip and the clock starts.
10 laps/20 lengths. Two swimmers per lane. We will have lap counters.
Swim order:
15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 70-79, 60-69,
40-49, 50-59 Teams, Day-of registrants
Bike Course: (14 mi*) THE BEAST
This is a challenging two-loop course. After the swim, the transition takes you heading south on McLane. At around 2 miles you’ll encounter THE CORKSCREW. Don’t take the CORKSCREW too fast because at the bottom you are going to be making a hard right turn After another mile or so you’ll hit GOLF COURSE CORNER; (Vista) another right turn. Don’t miss this turn! The road goes on for miles and we don’t want to lose you. After the turn is our hill that we lovingly call THE BEAST. Athletes love to hate this hill! It is a steep mile or so climb followed by a series of shorter hills. Elevation starts at 4850 and peaks out at 5150 at around the 3.5 mile mark. At the top of the hill you will be taking the first right at YARD SALE CORNER (Bulla). If you packed some cash, you might just want to stop and do a little shoppin! Just as you are catching your breath flying down Airport Road you’ll encounter SCREAMER HILL. The steep descent is cut short by a hard right turn onto McLane Rd. SLOW DOWN!!!! We frown upon crashing! We love this course so much that we make you do it twice!
Run Course 5k
- We straightened out the run route to make it easier on the athletes. Please see the map for changes.
- The 5k course is flat and runs through residential areas of Payson. It starts at the bike transition and ends at the South end of Rumsey Park finish line.
- There will be course marshals, signs and chalk on the course.
