Gila Community College Trail: This in-Town PATS route on the Gila Community College campus is 1 ¼ miles long. It is dedicated to in memory of Jimmy Harris, Jr., son of a long-time GCC staff member.
The GCC Jimmy Harris Trail is a jewel inside of Payson, providing the trail user with an easy journey across the 50-acre GCC campus through small, shaded hills filled with local wildlife and seasonal waterholes. GCC Biology students, under their instructor Joe Shannon, have worked to develop the interpretive existing user-made trail over the past few years. With recent incorporation into PATS, the Town of Payson will bring additional resources with assistance from an Arizona State Heritage Grant, to further refine the existing trail and develop an expanded trailhead, user-amenities and directional signage.
This trail is for non-motorized use only and is open during daylight hours.
There is parking available in the GCC parking lot, and most weekends there is plenty of space for horse trailers.
